Internet Explorer lost the crown in the main market for the first time
Boston, USA and Dublin, Ireland, Tuesday, January 4, 2011: Firefox surpassed Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) to become the first browser to Europe in December 2010 as StatCounter website analysis of free enterprise. research firm StatCounter arm Global statistics reports that in December, Firefox had 38.11% of market share in Europe, compared with 37.52% of IE.
"This is the first time that IE has been dethroned from the number one important territory," commented Aodhan Cullen, CEO of StatCounter. "This seems to be happening because Google Chrome is stealing market share from Internet Explorer while Firefox is mainly to maintain their current share."
