I Lost My Puppy Shot Records

libreoffice3.3 exceeds 3 ways to install java on linux

OPTION 1: Install OpenJDK
142fc496eac1104b24ae30fdcb1cffa1
As many know OpenJDK is the free version of the Java development platform and which comes default in Ubuntu serves both to run applications written in Java for their development.

see the steps below to install OpenJDK in Ubuntu and the like. Based on two situations, if we have the package sun-java-bin and sun-java-jre which are not free and if we do not have installed.

Open a terminal and follow the steps:

1 .- If you have installed the package sun-java-bin and sun-java-jre proceed to uninstall them first, otherwise we simply ignore this step: sudo apt-get
remove sun-java6-bin sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin
2.-install OpenJDK packages:
sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre openjdk-6-jdk
us notice of the packages will be installed and the new space to use, we confirm and we hope to complete the process.

OPTION 2: Install SunJDK (or Oracle)

As its name suggests is the version distributed by oracle
Procedure.

Add the repository where the packages SunJDK.

$ sudo apt-add-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ lucid partner"

Update database aptitude.

$ sudo aptitude update

Remover OpenJDK packages.

$ sudo aptitude remove-purge-6-jre openjdk

$ sudo aptitude remove openjdk-6-doc openjdk-6-jre-headless openjdk-6-jre-lib

SunJDK Install packages.

$ sudo aptitude install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-jdk sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts

OPTION 3: From the Java Web
If you have difficulties as previous, you can download the Sun Web site the jre6 or, if you want to program, the JDK6.

what you'll get is a file. Bin to install the following steps:

1. In the terminal: Type:
your
2. Type the root password.
3. Change to the directory where you want to install. Type: cd

For example, to install the software in / usr / java /, type:
cd / usr / java /

Note about root access: To install the JRE in a location accessible from the entire system, as / usr / local, you must login as root to obtain the necessary permits. If you have root access, install the JRE in your home directory or a subdirectory for which you have write permission.
4. Change the permissions of the downloaded file to be executable. Type:
chmod a + x jre-6u-linux-i586.bin
5. Check that has permission to run the file. Type: ls-l

Start the installation process. Type:
./jre-6u -Linux-i586.bin

This displays a binary license. Read. Press the spacebar to advance to the next page. At the end, enter yes to proceed with the installation.

1. The JRE is installed in its own directory. In this example we have installed in the / usr/java/jre1.6.0_ . Once the installation will see the word Done.

The JRE is installed in the subdirectory jre1.6.0_ current directory. In this case, the JRE is installed in / usr/java/jre1.6.0_ . Make sure the subdirectory jre1.6.0_ appear in the directory current. Type: ls

Move the folder created after the installation (named jre1.6.0 to a more appropriate:

$ sudo mv jre1.6.0 / usr / lib / jvm

establish the new Java as one of the alternatives "java":

$ sudo update-alternatives - install "/ usr / bin / java" "java" "/ usr/lib/jvm/jre1.6.0/bin/java" 1

Now we set the "new alternative" as real Java. This step makes the sun is the version used by default:

$ sudo update-alternatives - set java / usr/lib/jvm/jre1.6.0 / bin / java

To check if we have version 1.6.0, tipeamos in the terminal:

$ java-version java version "1.6.0"
Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-B105)
Java HotSpot (TM ) Client VM (build 1.6.0-B105, mixed mode)
